Artist's Description

A Graphite pencil drawing on paper of the last purpose-built dive bomber, the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver, used in the last couple of years of the Pacific War. Although it had numerous design and production flaws, most were corrected and it eventually became an effective weapon for the US Navy. It was never as popular as the aircraft it replaced, the Douglas Dauntless. The aircraft was largely responsible for the end of Curtiss as an aircraft manufacturer, as they failed to get any more orders with its early postwar designs.
