Artist's Description
A Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf-110C Zerstorer (Destroyer) heavy fighter during a dogfight with a RAF Hawker Hurricane Mark 1 during the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940. Although a failure as its original intended role as a bomber escort fighter, this rapidly aging design nevertheless became an outstanding night-fighter for the Luftwaffe, and was responsible for more RAF bomber losses than any other weapon.
