For it's time it was cutting edge. My first operational RAF flight (1955) was in the NF variant resulting in an exhilirating tailchase in the UK summer cloud scape. You wore it rather than sat in it - magic stuff! A lovely rendition capturing the essence of the Vamp.

Thanks for the descriptive comment about you actually flying this jet! I know a man here who owned one for awhile. He told me you had to be careful to keep moving on the ground if you had the engine running, otherwise you could damage the concrete below the jet. He also said that the power to weight ratio was excellent for a first generation jet fighter.
