Description
Digital drawing made using Corel Painter 2017 of the Prototype Stealth Fighter that lost out in the fly-off competition with the F-22A Raptor. The losing design was itself a highly capable aircraft and was actually superior in many areas (but not all) to the winning design, according to many aviation experts. Two F-23s were made, and one is displayed at the Air Force Museum, and the other is displayed at my local airport, where I was able to obtain countless reference photos for this drawing.

Another great one Douglas! And you're a lucky dog, you have one of two prototypes in your back yard! I'd like to see some of those reference images some day.
Douglas Castleman replied:
Thanks, John! Yeah, I know living in Southern California is pretty cool as an airplane nut. Aviation used to be HUGE around here, bigger industry than anything else, including motion pictures. With the last C-17 built in Long Beach a couple of years ago, that whole era came to a close.
