Sometime early in 1943, a Curtiss P-40N Warhawk of the 44th Fighter Squadron Guadalcanal AirSols is in a close duel with a Rabual-based A6M Zero, among the clouds, over the hotly contested Solomon Islands in the South Pacific.

Douglas Castleman is an award-winning artist and photographer based in Los Angeles (Torrance, California).
