About Douglas Castleman
Douglas Castleman is an award-winning artist and photographer based in Los Angeles (Torrance, California). His aerospace art has garnered the American Society of Aviation Artist (ASAA) Artist Fellow status, and some of his paintings are in the collections at the US Air Force Art Collection (Pentagon) and the NASA Permanent Art Collection (Neil Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, California). Douglas specializes in landscape, aviation and marine subjects and photography. His oil paintings, watercolor and pencil (graphite) works are part of collections around the world. I get it, but I seriously didn't know it wasn't pencil until I read the description. Very convincing and I'm not usually fooled by filters and such. Again, it's such a nice image, really great details and the angle showcases the aircraft nicely. Great work, one of my favorites from you.

Wow, thanks! I finally used photos (for reference) I shot long ago at an Edwards AFB airshow for this. This bomber flew more like a big fighter during its demo. Amazing aircraft, with so much raw power.

That looks really nice. I almost can't believe how good and hand drawn it looks for digital. What an aircraft!

Thank you, John. In many ways I feel like I'm "cheating" using digital techniques. For example, being able to really zoom right in for the detail areas, but especially the advantage of layers for different elements. Very much a time saver too. I think this would have taken three or four times as long if I used purely traditional methods.
